If you own a creative business you absolutely should be using Pinterest. Why? Well I wanted to put this post together to give you six simple reasons. But over the last 7 or 8 years of working with creative businesses it’s become so apparent to me that not many are utilising the platform.

Creative businesses should be using Pinterest, here’s why;

#1 It’s where your ideal client is

Pinterest reaches over 50% of the female, 18-24 year old UK population. If your target audience falls in to that, then you should be using the platform. Generally speaking Creative Businesses should be using Pinterest to grow their reach and expand their customer base. Rightly or wrongly, I’ve found the creative industry relatively female dominant. What can I say – We appreciate the visuals!

#2 It’s a visual search engine and you know how to make things look good

Although Pinterest is generally grouped with the other social channels such as Facebook, Instagram & Twitter, Pinterest is a different breed! Simply put, it’s Google but in a visual sense. So yes, all that SEO you’ve been brushing up on applies here. Unlike the other social channels, creative businesses don’t need to be sucked into the Likes & Follower competition. In fact, follows on Pinterest is the metric that matters the least. What matters? Saves & Clicks.

#3 Pinterest drives 33% more traffic to shopping sites than Facebook

Who doesn’t want more traffic to your site? Simply put, Pinterest is used by people across the globe who are looking for inspiration. You have no way of telling their intention of using the platform at that time. However, by drawing them in with a beautiful pin that intrigues them, and getting them on your site is the first step. Keeping their attention and getting them to convert is on you.

#4 Pins have a long life span

It’s been said that a pin has a half-life span of 3 months. That generally means that even 3 months after you initially add that pin, people will still be seeing it pop up in their feeds. Especially if you create the best Pinterest Pin Descriptions! Don’t be fooled though, you pin can be picked up and go viral any amount of time after you’ve created it.

#5 55% of Pinners are specifically looking for products

Once known as the platform that women go to plan their life events. The weddings, baby showers, home renovations etc. is now used by over 300million people. 55% is a big portion of that! Jeez, that’s A LOT of people! Just think of all the potential sales you could be missing out on!

#6 8/10 users have bought products based on the brands content

On Pinterest, brands inspire – they don’t interrupt. Share your ideas with people who want to take action.

Just like most digital marketing channels, consistently building your brand will allow people to get to know, like and trust you. This will take them from not knowing who you are, to becoming a customer. Pinterest is simply an additional channel that creative businesses should be using.
